Due to damage to public beach access areas as a result of Hurricane Irma in 2017, approximately 21 miles of Brevard County, Florida shoreline required beach and dune restoration.
SDR successfully completed the original unit price contract by placing 317,000 tons of sand, which was sourced from quality local mines, with a total project value of over $7.5 million. In addition, SDR was also contracted to complete the same restoration for an adjacent private beach access area for the property’s homeowners association.
The scope of work mandated that only high-quality sand sources be utilized and that the project’s stringent timeframe be adhered to. SDR successfully met both criteria to the satisfaction of the client’s project manager.
Finally, the dune areas for both the public and private areas were refurbished with native plantings to provide maximum eco-system integration and environmental beautification.
